==Lịch sử==
Từ 4500-3500 năm trước [[Công lịch]], Yerushaláyim đã sớm nằm trong những địa điểm tụ cư hệ trọng nhất [[thế giới]]. Thành phố được người [[Cổ Ai Cập]] và các thị tộc [[Canaan]] thay nhau chiếm cứ rồi dựng bằng những đá tảng lớn.

Bắt đầu từ triều đại [[David]] (1000 năm trước [[Công lịch]]), Yerushaláyim làm thủ phủ của các quốc gia [[Do Thái giáo]]. Nhìn chung, Yerushaláyim trở nên trọng yếu nhờ địa thế đồng bằng cho phép phát triển thương nghiệp tới cực đại.

Sau thời gian dài bị [[đế quốc La Mã]] đô hộ, Yerushaláyim lại nổi lên là trung tâm của các tín ngưỡng khởi phát từ [[Avraham]], nên càng dễ thành chiến địa của nhiều thế lực ven bờ [[Địa Trung Hải]].

Tình hình chỉ lắng dần trong thời [[Đế quốc Osmānīye]] thống trị, rồi tới [[Đế quốc Anh]] bảo hộ.

Giai đoạn 1948 - 1967, địa bàn Jerusalem được phân cho hai chính thể [[Yisrael|Yisra'el]] và [[Al-ʾUrdunn]]. Hai quốc gia này liên tục giao tranh để chiếm quyền kiểm soát từng phần đến toàn diện tích thành phố.

Kể từ [[thập niên 1970]], [[Al-ʾUrdunn]] nhượng hoàn toàn Tây ngạn sông Al-Urdun và Tử Hải cho chính thể [[Filastin|Filasṭīn]]. Tới nay, cả [[Yisrael|Yisra'el]] và [[Filastin|Filasṭīn]] đều tuyên bố Yerushaláyim là thủ đô hòng tận dụng ưu thế của thành thị ngàn năm này.
